In autumn 2015 I bought a small terraced house. A Home Buyer's survey having identified a number of items needing rectification, I had to find a builder to carry out the work. I was apprehensive, not only about the cost, but because of the many stories I had heard about cowboy builders taking advantage of naive pensioners. Although not a first-time buyer, I had never had to appoint a contractor by myself.
I need not have woried. The Integrated Property Services contracts manager, Kevin, came promptly and cast a thorough and expert eye over the problem areas, in the process identifying some points missed in the survey.
Before he had a chance to submit his quotation, disaster struck. The heavy November rains exacerbated a leak in the roof which was set to do serious damage to the ceilings. Instincively I rang IPS to ask if there were any emergency measures they could undertake. The response was immediate; they could and they did (and came back to check on it).
Despite this, in presenting his quote, Kevin made it clear that there was no obligation to accept it. However the figure was a reasonable one and by now I was starting to feel confident that this was the firm I wanted to go with.
On the agreed date the team arrived promptly and got to work having made sure to protect the new carpets. They were cheerful and friendly, as well as hard-working and competent. Meanwhile, Kevin kept me informed at every stage of the work, and even managed to persuade a neighbouring property owner to carry out long-overdue repairs to their own roof, whose dilapidated state was contributing to the problems with mine - this even though ongoing commitments precluded and IPS tender for the work.
The experience, far from being a nightmare I had feared, could not have been better. IPS is a professional enterprise in every sense of the word. Its experienced multidisplinary team are expert tradesman and completed the various jobs to a high standard. Their work is meticolously coordinated by Kevin, whose leadership style amply demonstrates the firm's professional ethic of a duty of care to the client. I cannot recommend them highly enough.
